Roles and Responsibilities:

·         Ensures all programs provide quality care, service and support to the participants and their families

·         Understands and complies with provincial, municipal and Blossoming Minds Learning Centre’s Child Guidance Policies

·         Plans and implements a consistent child-centered program in accordance with Blossoming Mind’s curriculum

·         Develop, implement, and lead play-based curriculum

·         Facilitate a nurturing and supportive learning environment that enhances the physical, social, emotional, cognitive, creative and language development of young children

·         Post observation and documentation on children’s learning

·         Research and integrate activities, resources, and materials to enhance the children’s learning experience

·         Participate in professional development and implement into program accordingly

·         Ensure implementation of codes of behaviour in school programs to build safe and supportive environments

·         Completes required documentation of children’s development and interactions

·         Communicate with families, coworkers, and supervisors

·         Manage the classroom properly, keeping work environment clean and safe

·         Participate in team meeting and workshops

·         Other duties as assigned

 

Skills/Qualification/Experience/Education Required:

·         1+ years’ experience

·         Early Childhood Educator Diploma or degree

·         Must be registered and a member in good standing in the College of Early Childhood Educators (CECE)

·         Well-developed interpersonal skills, team building skills; ability to establish rapport and excellent communication with members, staff and volunteers

·         Excellent written communication skills

·         Commitment to working in an inclusive and diverse environment

·         Holds a valid standard/level C first aid certification including infant and child cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) prior to the first day of work

·         Flexibility regarding assigned working hours and age grouping assignments

·         Must be able to lift children up to 40 pounds

·         Can demonstrate knowledge of the Reggio Philosophy and the following documents:

o   Childcare and Early Years Act

o   Think Feel Act

o   How does Learning Happen

o   ELECT

 

Working Condition:

·         Must be available to work between the hours of 7:30am – 6:00pm

Position Type:

Permanent, Full-Time – 40 hours per week

Salary – $21.00 (CAD) per hour

 

Government wage enhancement programs ($2 per hour for CWELCC, $2 per hour for P.W.E.) as approved by government annually and not a guaranteed wage and subject to change.)

Group insurance benefits (including medical, dental, pharmacy, vision plans) available after 3 months probation

Incremental raise available based on job performance and seniority
