Job Description: Operate and drive straight or articulated trucks to transport goods and materials; Load and unload goods; Tarp (if required) and ensure safety and security of cargo; Oversee condition of vehicle and inspect, tires, lights, brakes, and cargo; May need to perform brake adjustment and emergency roadside repairs; Perform preventive maintenance and clean trucks as required; Attend to record keeping including goods or materials hauled, hours of service, distance travelled, fuel consumption, pre and post-trip inspections; Follow directions, read maps or find locations by way of an LSD; Co-ordinate with the dispatch office; Professionalism in customer service
Education: No degree, certificate, or diploma
Experience: Experience an asset
Languages: English
Certificate, licenses, memberships, and courses: Air Brake Endorsement, Driver’s License (Class 1 or A)
Documentation Knowledge: Driver logbook, Maintenance and repair reports and Trip reports
Type of trucking and equipment: Roll-off truck, Dump truck, Tractor-trailer units
Transportation/Travel experience: Trucking, Regional, Short haul
Security and safety: Driving record check (abstract); Drug testing
Transportation/travel information: May drive manual transmission vehicles, Willing to travel for extended periods, Willing to travel overnight. Frequent or constant travel is required from the employee as this is an on-the-road job.
Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities: Attention to detail, Physically demanding, Sitting, Handling heavy loads up to 23 kgs (50lbs)
