Family Bakery Cafe, located in East York, Ontario, is a well-established Eastern European Bakery known for its traditional Burek and pastry breads. With a commitment to quality and freshness, we create all our baked goods from scratch. Our warm and inviting cafe is a hub of culinary tradition and community, where every bite tells a story of our passion for delicious food.
We constantly continue growing and evolving and at this time we are looking for a Pastry Chef to join our team of professionals.
In this position you will be responsible for:
· Prepare and cook all pastry and dessert items as required by the restaurant
· Create new pastry and dessert recipes
· Plan the dessert menu to complement savoury items
· Tort, fill, and mask cakes
· Estimate food requirements and maintain inventory of food, supplies, and equipment
· Ensure superior quality of food once it leaves the kitchen
· Ensure the kitchen is clean and sanitized at all times
· Supervise kitchen helpers, as needed
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
At least 1-2 years of experience as a Pastry Chef
Secondary School Diploma
Good command of English is mandatory
Culinary/Cooking trade certifications/diplomas are assets
Safe Food handling certificates, WHMIS and CPR certifications are assets
COMPENSATION & CONDITIONS:
· Permanent, full-time position
· $29.00 per hour with applicable overtime pay after 44 hours of work per week
· 40 hours of work per week
