Full Time Medical Office Assistant (3 Month Temporary Term Contract with possibility to renew)

SALARY RANGE: $25-30 hourly rate (based on 35 hours a week)

Are you a compassionate, organized, and detail-oriented professional looking to make a meaningful impact in healthcare? The K’ómoks First Nation is seeking a dynamic Medical Office Assistant (MOA) to join our Health Department and support our vision of a prosperous, self-sufficient, and healthy community.

About the Role

As our Medical Office Assistant, you’ll be the first point of contact at the Health Centre — the heart of healthcare for the K’ómoks community. You’ll manage clinic schedules, support community programs, handle medical admin duties, and help make healthcare accessible and welcoming for all our members.

This role is perfect for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, people-first environment and is passionate about community wellness.

What You’ll Do:

Coordinate and run a variety of clinics (physician, massage, foot care, orthotics, and more)
Assist with vaccination clinics and health promotion programs
Perform reception duties with warmth and professionalism
Support medical staff with scheduling, paperwork, travel coordination, and medical records
Organize community health events and support service providers
Maintain medical office supplies and assist with petty cash and billing
Help manage software systems and train staff on procedures
What We’re Looking For:

Medical Office Assistant Certificate (required)
5+ years in administrative roles, with 2+ in a medical office setting
Strong organizational, communication, and customer service skills
Comfort using tools like Microsoft Office, OSCAR, and Care Connect
Cultural sensitivity and an understanding of Indigenous communities and governance
A collaborative mindset and the ability to work independently under pressure
First Aid, Mental Health First Aid, or Non-Violent Crisis Intervention certification
Experience working with Indigenous communities
Familiarity with health benefits forms, reimbursement, and clinic coordination
