District Vice Principal – Indigenous Education
Adjacent to Victoria on southern Vancouver Island, Sooke School District is the fastest growing school district on Vancouver Island and one of the fastest growing districts in British Columbia. District Vice Principal – Indigenous Education
The District Vice Principal, NA’TSA’MAHT Indigenous Education works under the direction of the District Principal, NA’TSA’MAHT Indigenous Education and is part of the District’s Leadership Team. The District Vice Principal will provide leadership and assume a wide range of responsibilities aimed at leading, promoting, and supporting Indigenous education and cultural initiatives across the District (K-12). The District Vice Principal’s primary responsibility will be to foster Indigenous student success as well as awareness and understanding of Indigenous histories, cultures, and ways of being to further the goals of the NA’TSA’MAHT Enhancement Agreement. In addition, the position may include teaching time dependent on the operational needs of the NA’TSA’MAHT Indigenous Education Department. As an ideal candidate, you:

And have the required education and experience noted below:
· Completion of a Masters’ degree in Educational Leadership, Indigenous Education, or related area
· A Bachelors’ degree in Education with a valid BC teaching certificate
· Minimum of 3 university courses at the 300 level or higher related to Indigenous Education
· A minimum of 5 years of successful experience in a leadership position including a minimum of three years of recent and exemplary experience as a vice principal either at the school or district level leading programs, initiatives, and staff
· Minimum of 3 years in-depth experience in leading, promoting, and supporting Indigenous educational and cultural initiatives
· Experience implementing the 1701 IETF Ministry of Education policy guidelines preferred
· Experience leading and teaching in a unionized public-school setting using the BC curriculum preferred
The salary range for this full-time position is $138,313 to $145,721 per annum. Initial placement within the range is based on related education and experience. Sooke School District offers a competitive benefits package and pension plan.
