THE POSITION:
Our team is constantly growing, and we are currently looking for an experienced Cook specializing in Eastern European cuisine to join our kitchen team for a full-time, permanent position. The ideal candidate will have skills, knowledge and experience in Eastern European cuisine, particularly in Ukrainian, Moldavian, Russian, Bulgarian, Poland, Hungarian cuisine, etc.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Prepare and cook authentic Eastern European cuisine dishes, including appetizers, main courses, and desserts – golubtzi, goulash, borscht, pierogi, chicken Kiev, deruny, oladushki, pelmeni and many more.
· Prepare dishes for customers with food allergies or intolerances.
· Oversee kitchen operations.
· Maintain inventory and records of food, supplies and equipment.
· Maintain a clean kitchen and work area.
· Determine the size of food portions, estimate food requirements and costs, and monitor and order supplies.
REQUIREMENTS:
· Minimum 2 years of experience as a cook, specializing in Eastern European cuisine.
· Thorough knowledge of Eastern European authentic dishes, appetizers, main courses, and desserts.
· Experience working with a wide variety of ingredients.
· Good command of English
· Completion of secondary school
CONDITION OF EMPLOYMENT:
· Full-time, permanent position consisting of at least 35 weekly work hours.
· The remuneration will be set at CAD 17 per hour.
· Occasional overtime may be required for meeting critical deadlines. Overtime pay will apply after 44 hours of work per week and will be remunerated at one and a half time the regular pay rate. Be ready to work shifts consisting of mornings, afternoons and evenings.
