Now Hiring – Concrete Finisher (Permanent F/T )
Silver Springs Ventures ( 1994) Ltd. is a family owned and operated business located in Kelowna, B.C. offering our services in Kelowna and throughout the Okanagan and surrounding areas. We provide concrete pumping and placing and finishing services for residential, commercial, and industrial sites.
We are currently seeking to hire several concrete finishers in permanent, full time positions, to start as soon as possible for our many upcoming projects. You will be based out of Kelowna, BC, and our projects are throughout the Kelowna urban area and surrounding rural areas. Our starting wage is $30.00/hour based upon a 30 hour work week. We offer dental benefits, vision care benefits and life insurance benefits and other benefits such as medical. We are looking for someone to start as soon as possible.
You should be willing to be flexible with shift work, on-call and willing to work overtime. Hours can be early morning, morning, day, evening, night as well as weekends. You must speak English with excellent oral communication skills. You should have completed high school and have between 2 to less than 3 years experience.
Specifically you will be checking formwork, granular base and steel reinforcement materials and direct placement of concrete into forms or onto surfaces according to grade; Fill hollows and remove spots on freshly poured cement; Operate power vibrators to compact concrete; Level top surface concrete according to grade and depth specification; Impart desired finish to concrete surfaces using hand and power tools; Apply hardening and sealing components to cure surfaces; Waterproof, damp proof and restore surfaces; and Repair, resurface and replace worn or damaged sections of concrete structures. You will be working with colours and sealers, reinforcing membrane and protective coverings, hardeners and epoxies and light weight concrete.
The work can be physically demanding including handling heavy loads, bending, crouching, kneeling, and standing for extended periods of time. There is attention to detail and sound discrimination. Work sites can be dusty, hot, outdoors, dangerous, noisy, wet/damp and you may be working at heights, on scaffolding or swing stages. You should have steel toed safety boots and a hard hat. Our work sites are commercial, industrial, residential, roads and bridges and sidewalks and curbs.
